In 2016 a successful collaboration between PHd and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust resulted in creating and opening a £1,5m new Worcestershire Breast Unit facility. What previously been a redundant building was changed into a state-of-the-art dedicated Breast Unit, with a design that avoids traditional NHS aesthetics and creates a calm and welcoming environment for patients, resembling a private clinic than a typical hospital outpatient department.
A few years later, the growing number of patients compelled the Trust to consider an extension to the existing building to provide an appropriate level of services. Happy with the previous outcome, the Trust returned to PHd for help. The result of this is two new extensions accommodating additional imaging rooms, mammography and ultrasound equipped with the latest imaging technologies, offices, and improved staff facilities.
The new additional entrance for the Imagining Department improves the clinical flow and allows weekend consultations.
