PHd provided support to Paveaways Ltd on the design and build delivery of the AA concept design for this £3.2 million project. The new facility includes spaces where student paramedics receive training and are observed in specially designed simulation spaces. PHd coordinated complex interfaces for a new steel-framed atrium space situated between two existing large faculty buildings. Significant design development was undertaken to address internal acoustic issues, numerous ground levels, and four different types of external façade. Staffordshire Knot was incorporated into timber fins, and ambulance bays and new car park areas were all designed in detail by PHd. We also created bespoke feature furniture elements and provided solutions to various value engineering led challenges.
A new link space between existing buildings with canteen space and internal ramps to accommodate differing existing floor levels were incorporated in the proposals. Additionally, careful consideration was given to fire compartments and adaptations to egress routes.
