After successfully completing several Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust projects, including a comprehensive site expansion and strategy project for Solihull Hospital, PHd undertook the design and construction of a new Estates and Facilities Building for the Trust Estates and Maintenance Team. This building houses both teams, including the Facilities and Management Teams, and replaces the outdated and disparate facilities with a new, modern building on the former boiler house site. The design combines functionality with minimalistic modern aesthetics.
The ground floor is dedicated to the maintenance team, accommodating technicians, electricians, fitters, various workshops, stores, and staff facilities. The layout facilitates coordination and collaboration, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. It comprises a mix of small and mid-sized fully enclosed or interlinked spaces, allowing for maximum traffic flow optimization.
The first floor is designed with management and administration staff in mind. It features clusters of smaller offices and meeting rooms combined with a vast open-plan office space. The harmonious balance of enclosed and open spaces creates a friendly environment that fosters collaboration and productivity while also allowing quiet work and privacy.
